FYI Radio Shack is running a promotion in the May issues of Circuit Cellar and Nuts and Volts magazines - where they'll give you a cold heat soldering iron ($20 value) if you buy $20 of components or soldering items or tools. Normally I don't like paying Radio Shack's inflated prices, but they do have reasonable prices on some items such as prototype/perf boards, etchent, and solder so I picked-up mine today. Has anyone else got there's?

I'm not sure I would use these "cold heat irons" to solder any lead that is connected to an IC or any sort of "sensitive" device!
It does put out electricity to arc-weld with solder....

they're a rip off. the tips wear quickly and the replacements cost almost as much as the device itself (imagine that.)
they'll give you the device for 'free' cause you'll come back for the replacement parts.
i'll stick with my old-school irons.
