I would need a hygrometer with a simple interface, if possible serial, although I migh accomodate an I2C too.
For interfacing I will use·a PIC.

Anyone has tried some hygrometer cheap and·easy to interface ?

I admit I had to look up the def'n of hygrometer!! lol

"instrument used to measure the moisture content of a gas, as in determining the relative humidity of air. The temperature at which dew or frost forms is a measure of the absolute humidity—the weight of water vapor per unit volume of air or other gas at the temperature before cooling"

Do you just want to measure humidity?

Parallax offers a nice sensor package for humidity and temperature ( http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28018·).

I just picked one up and used the demo program to get it going, but havne't done much otherwise!

Just a side note (as I'm prone to ADD)....I work for the Canadian weather service (Environment Canada) and just learned (although it's been around a long time) that there are studies that determine moisture content by the latency of GPS signals.· That's as much as I know!! lol· But I supposed they put a measuring device at a known location with a GPS antenna in it....and they use the GPS signal/resolution to determine the GPS's calculation to the sensors actual position.· I'm sure there's more to this....but in a sensor/equipment world of megabuck$ this seems like a pretty cheap/easy method for researchers!

This ADD gets tiresome....oh look, a cupcake....

The concept of using GPS to calculate humidity is fascinating, but the error built into the system would likely swamp out the humidity data. For an end user you would have to use a differential GPS system to overcome the built in error in order to measure humidity.

We're getting geared up to do a big 'validation' project and will be installing this gear! I'll post some info on how it works when I see it!!
