Books on Control & Feedback

I need to learn about control & feedback. I don't know much about the
subject, but I do know that I want to learn about PID (proportional,
integral, differential) Loops and how to program them in software.

I'm looking for the "Cliff's Notes" version or maybe the "Big Dummies
Guide to Control & Feedback" if such a thing exists. If not, a college
text book would be great also.

Any suggestions will be appreciated,

Thanks

    ·
The pdf version can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of the page.
    ·
It covers the subjects you mentioned using a BASIC Stamp 2 microcontroller and the Board of Education as platform.

There is a nifty little book published in 1983 by TI and Radio Shack called "Understanding Electronic Control of Automation Systems" ISBN 0895120526 at Amazon. It is an easy read, covers hardware and software issues, as well as describing basic algorithms. It used to be at Radio Shack SKU 62-1387, but they no longer list it. It would be a good start.
