SX Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Dear SX Community,

while preparing a new SX-related technical manual, I thought it would be a good idea to add an FAQ section. Therefore, I went through all the threads and topics in this forum area, fishing for FAQ candidates, and I have found some.

I have compiled what I have collected (plus some others, that I thought could be helpful) together in a PDF document that is attached in a ZIP archive to this post.

In agreement with Parallax, I volunteer to update this document from time to time when I notice new topics which should "make it" into the FAQ document.

Please note that this is not a read-only forum section - IOW, you could post whatever message you want to this topic but pleeeeaze don't use it to discuss off-topic issues here, or to post other SX questions.

Your comments, suggestions, and hints for new topics to be added to the SX FAQ document are - of course - more than welcome at any time.

Whenever I have a new version of the FAQ document available, I'll change this initial post accordingly, and post a new message, indicating that a new version is ready for download - similar to how I handle the SXSim thread.

I hope this FAQ collection will grow soon, and will be helpful for all you "SX-ers".

    New Edition 2 Released

This new edition of the SX FAQ contains three new topics:

    - The various options in the SX-Key IDE "Run" menu.
    - Explanation of the IRC_CAL directive.
    - Dealing with breakpoints

Not too many new topics for now - just to show that this document keeps growing...

Any comments, suggestions, wishes? Post a reply to this topic to let me know.

Hi all, well I haven't found the problem with new SX48 programming at 3.3 Volts failure, but did solve the debug running all the time. I have testpoints on my SX48 clock pins, these testpoints have little pins solded to them, to attach CRO leads, seems these pins were causing the problem. When I removed the pins, all worked well.

Reading the posts Ive found alot of issues with restrictions on SX Key loading. Would be curious to know if this is capacitance loading, and whats the effect its having on the SXkey or SX devices.

May I write this forum about the software of SX?

    Hello.
    Please answer my question.
I plan a counter ending two calculation at the same time for the first time at the same time.
It measures the synchronism of two signals and starts and I measure similar synchronism and want to be finished.
Is this method possible in SX28?
    Thank you.

    SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH

    MY QUESTION:
    i have a SX28PBASIC with eeprom 24LC128

when i open "BASIC STAMP EDITOR/DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM"
    and i display "MEMORY MAP",
i see the capacity "EEPROM MAP" is the same of device 24LC16B.
Also, the "RAM MAP" is the same that "PIC16C37C" .

I hope that SX28PBASIC with eeprom 24LC128 can have "memory map" and "ram map" great that
    PIC16C37C with 24LC16B ?

    Sorry

I think that when you code A program and display the Memory Map it will tell you what the RAM and EEPROM of the Basic Stamp would look like if you uploaded it. It seems that you have a Basic Stamp SX, so if this dosen't help, you should go to the Basic Stamp forum and ask somebody there.
