Howdy All...
Well Here is a short clip of the working sign.
Does anyone know how the max7219's daisy chain flow with each other? Am I using all the digits and Segs. on each one or will I only use the digits and let the Segs be controlled by the first chip. I had a wiring problem which is why all the led's were on and not shutting off.
I will try a few things tommorrow but but if you have any info on this, I would appreciate it. The max docs only specify daisy chaining for 7 segment displays,

thanks..
Jeff

    Jeff,

    Cool display.....good job !!

When you "daisy chain" the MAX7219's, each one controlls its individual group of LEDs.

If you have two 7219's, the information for the second 7219 is "passed through" the first one to the second one. The data sheet explains how to do that.

the cascading won't function for me. I have 2 sections wired up with cascading chips and they each scroll their own characters and won't flow from one to the other... And I thought I was getting somewhere...!! LOL...
