Noob Question: Serial problems with an Acroname CMUCam2

Hey,
I have a CMUCam2+ from Acroname (http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/R245-CMUCAM2-PLUS.html) that I am trying to interface with my BS2. Trouble is, it dosn't want to talk to the BS2. I have tried all available· baud rates with 8 bit, no parity, true logic (which is what the camera communicates in).
I think I have narawed the problem down to my circut. I just connected the serial lines (stx, srx) to an I/O pin each and ground to ground and 5v to vdd.
I am totally new to serial communication and am not sure what else to do.
Can anyone help???
Thanks,
Borgel
[Edit] Right now, I am using an extremly basic program just to get this thing running.
