Stamp Resetting with RS232 SERIN

I'm having a hard time preventing my BS II from resetting itself after the SERIN detects an input.· I read where noise on the ATTN pin might be causing the stamp to perform a hard reset. As a result, I did what was recommended and placed a resistor and capacitor in parallel with the ATTN pin and ran the output to ground.· Unfortunately, this seems to have done nothing to solve the "reset" problem.

I'm trying to use Javax.Comm to communicate my laptop to my Stamp.··Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?·

Try sending messages with the Debug Terminal first. The Debug Terminal has a small, white transmit windowpane above the receive windowpane. If the BASIC Stamp can receive messages from the Debug Terminal, you will have ruled out hardware problems, and can focus on Javax.Comm.
