Stand-Off Hardware Kit?

Hello Everyone,

Can any of you tell me where you are buying your stand-off hardware, and if this type of stuff is available in a kit form?· It sure would be nice to buy a larger·selection·at one time and keep it on the shelf,·so a guy wouldn't have to hunt·it down and purchase·this stuff·project-to-project.

Thanks,

Tim

When I need "custom" length standoffs I use thick plastic tubing from Home Depot and cut to length.

    Zayeed143,

Wow, I don't even remember this thread... it's an old one!

Thanks for the link, I like this stainless hardware and could find lots of interesting uses for it.

EDIT: Strange, seems the post I replied to disappeared while I was writing the reply. I don't know if a moderator removed it or what happened...??

Yeah, probably spam which usually gets removed pretty quickly.

    ...yep! ;)

This particular one by Mr. Mike Green! I was watching the poster and Mr. Green beat me to it...

Thanks for following up with the explanation guys, it's nice to know what happened. The link that was posted looks legit enough and although the hardware is not specific to electronics use, it is pretty cool. I did get it bookmarked, so if anyone wants it, I can post it again.

I find that Ace Hardware has a decent assortment of standoffs. Some aluminum (plain and threaded) and some nylon. Might be an alternate source for those times you just can't wait for mail order... most of the time for me! ;-)

Trying to decide what is spam and what is a well meaning, but maybe inappropriate posting is tough. In this case, the original thread was quite old, this was the first (and only) posting by the individual, and it was only marginally (at best) relevant to the original thread since the website mostly showed stuff called "stand off hardware" that was for uses other than electronics construction ... and there was no attempt by the individual to relate the products on that "super store" website to the subject of the thread.

I suspect what's happening is that spammers are doing web searches for forums where a particular product type is mentioned and, in this case, the words "stand-off hardware" showed up in the thread title ... our good fortune!

Is this what was being looked for?

    Hi Jeff,

Yes that is the type of stand-off hardware I was looking for. I had several projects at work going on simultaneously and was hoping for a stand-off 'kit' of different diameters and lengths to purchase and have on hand, rather than buy only a couple at a time as projects progressed. If I remember correctly, at that time we ended up putting our own kit together with packages from Grainger.

A BIG Thank You to all of our moderators, for taking care of business here and continuing to make this a top-notch forum environment to work and play in. I've been part of many online forums in the last 15 years and this group is still at the head of the list for being the happiest, most productive and most respectful of them all. Thanks to each of the members too, for all the same reasons... as we all know, so much online discussion quickly degrades into flames and name calling rather than staying on topic and getting things done.

And they also provide free samples.
