Turning a Mosfet off

When 5 volts is applied to the mosfet through pin 7 of the DS1620 the relay is energized.· When pin 7 turns off, the relay is still energized.· Is it ok to use the 10k resistor like I have in my drawing?· It does work but I do not know if this is the correct thing to do or not.
