I wasn't sure what the correct forum was for question about an accessory item, so I'll try here first....
Has anyone had any experence with the USB2SER device parallax sells?
In particular, I was wonder if there are any issues with handshaking and/or keeping a microcontroller in sync,
since the adapter just has TX and RX, but no CTS or RTS.

·· The interface provides the necessary lines to effectively build your own Stamp Interface via USB.· It's not intended as a replacement for the USB2Serial port adapter we carry.· The other line provided is the line used by the Stamp to reset it.· No handshaking is available.
