ADC0831 vs. AD654 for voltage monitoring

I'm looking for opinions on using the ADC0831 (or it's multi-channel counterparts) A/D converter or the AD654 V/F converter to monitor voltage in a number of batteries.· It seems as though the AD654 might have a slightly simpler implementation, but would like to hear your opinions and experiences with both, especially the multi-channel ADC0838.· Seems as though the ADC083x is more common, so I'm leaning towards it at this point in time.·

Thanks,

Scott

    Scott,

·· Regardless of what's more common, you should use the device that fits your particular application and resolution requirements.· You'll be able to find code examples for the BASIC Stamp Modules for most of the A/D Converters, and if not, post your requests here, and we'll try to help.

Parallax has a text book called "Basic Analog to Digital" that will show you examples on how to use the ADC0831 chip.· Here is a link for the download of the text:· http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28155 .
