Serial communication question

Is there any way for the BS2 to ping the computer and figure out if it's still connected, like how the Basic Stamp Editor can find the stamp before downloading? I don't want my program to run while the stamp is still plugged in.

    ·· Only if there's a program running on the computer expecting the data to reply.· The only real way to see if there is a computer connected without code would be to look for voltage levels on the serial port.· That would require extra hardware.
