Dangit! Things are looking so bad for me. I just melted/burned my MPXA6115A6U barometer (worth around $17), as I was trying to solder it. The sensor is for a rocket entered in a high school rocket competition, Team America Rocket Challenge. Time is wanning, and we have to buy another sensor, which we don't have money for! Wonder what my team members are going to do to me now...

The good news is it looks like you can order another one at no charge - just click the 'order sample' button www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=MPXA6115A&nodeId=01126990368716#orderables

If the link above doesn't work, just type the chip part number into the P/N search field here www.freescale.com/

Jeezes Forrest! You're a LIFE saver. Have you ever ordered samples from them before? Do you know how long the wait might last?

    Thanks a bunch dude,

    Matthew

How in the world are these companies able to afford to give out free samples, ship FedEX Priority, and ask so few questions??? This same sensor cost $17 from Digikey!

    Matthew,

·· To answer your question...Many of the chip manufacturers give out samples usually under the assumption that the samples are for use in a product design.· That is why most always ask what the project/application is as well as the projected/expected yearly consumption of the project/application.

·· The company stands to benefit from giving out samples in situations like this, since if their chip is used, there is the potential for increased sales.· They sometimes cater to hobbyists and students for similar reasons.· You never know when someone is likely to come up with a new product that really takes off, and that can also increase sales.

·· Unfortunately, some are getting harder to get samples from as more and more people are abusing the system, so to speak.
