Hi All :-)

I was playing with the SX/B and a Tech Board this evening and decided to see if I could run Servos using the SX/B :-) Please find the result attached. It worked :-)

    Here's one I wrote that uses interrupts to control 8 servos on PORTC.

    This was almost my contest entry.

    Hey those are great. That was in my list of things to do with the SX ~

    BTW, where did you get the stand-offs you use on your dev board? I should do that....

    I love those mini servos....

    David,

    I like that extension cable for connecting the key to the Tech Board. Did you do that up yourself or find one somewhere?

    Hello Jim;

    My Wife had a crimping tool and I made it. It's just a 4 conductor straight thru cable.

    Jim,

    Rather than extend the SXKey output (with things like the 50 MHz clock), extend the input instead. Get a pair of IDC style crimp on DB9 connectors and make a little one or two foot flat ribbon serial extender. Here's an URL for the parts at Digikey:

    dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T051/0025.pdf

    You can also buy a 6 foot one pre-assembled at JameCo:

    www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=125957

    This removes the strain of hanging a heavy serial cable onto the SXKey, while not creating a potentially flaky connection due to running 50 MHz clocks over wires.
      Thanks, PeterM

    That's just what the RevE Sx-Key did. Please see attachments. It's still work great and it's flexible :-)

    Thanks all. Extending serial cable with light weight stuff is definitely a better solution.
