Helllo
Has anyone been ablle to use the SX-Key under VMware. I have tried versions 4.5 and the new beta 5 and every time I attempt to assemble I get an access violation in SASM.dll. This does not happen under WinXP as a host OS but only as a guest OS under VMware. I am running WinXP (32 bit) under beta 5 on a Linux (Fedora Coere 3) host using and AMD64 system.

It turns out that this problem may have less to due with VMware and more to do wiith my choice of platforms. I have notice this same problem now under Windows XP Pro without VMware. So I was wondering if anyone has experienced any problems using SASM.dll (via the IDE 3.0) on an AMD64 system?

    David,

I've never had the chance to run the IDE on an Athlon64. Of course, in the interests of science (and compatibility testing), I'd be more than willing to... if Parallax sent me one! Ken?

      Thanks, PeterM

I should also mention that I have not tried it under the winXP-64. I have a beta from MSDN I could install and could try that...I will see if I can do that this weekend

I haven't tried with Fedora, but about a year ago I had the SX programming tools running under wine on Redhat 9. Might be worth trying on Fedora. If I remember correctly you may need to copy some Windows 98 libraries into your wine dll path.

I also use VMware, both Workstation and ESX server, and have noticed that some applications that are time sensitive have issues (in my experience NTP time sync server does not work as expected). I don't know if this would affect the SX-Key interface or not.

    Dan,

Please do. It's always good to hear what works and what doesn't.
      Thanks, PeterM
