DS1621 temp readings with NX-1000 demo program

I just ran the DS1621 demo program that comes with the NX-1000 24/40 board. I am using a BS2p 40 chip. The debug display shows 1 degree C and 31 degrees F which are correct between themselves but certaintly not the ambient temp in my office. Any ideas as to what may be happening. BTW, the LCD and RTC programs ran fine so I am fairly sure the chip is working ok.

    Check your connections -- it appears that the BASIC Stamp is not actually getting a value back from the DS1621.
