Newbie can't get started with USB BOE

Hello, I just got a BS2 with USB BOE and 9v AC adaptor. It says yes for loopback and echo, but does not show anything in the device type or version fields. I have the BS2 installed correctly, power is on and switch is set to 1. The USB device is recognized by the computer and pings when I plug it in. The device mgr says COM3 is the USB serial port, is working properly, and a FTDI driver is installed.·I also get an error when trying to download any software to the device (just to test it). I also re-installed on another computer and same thing.

Help! Any thoughts are appreciated.

Marc

While unlikely, you may have a bad device. Another thing to try is to

Start >> Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Comx

Right click, then Properites >> Port Settings >> Advanced

I've read two different solutions, but can't explain why they work:

    1) Under BM Options change the Latency Timer to 1
    2) Under Misc Options change the timouts to 100 ms

    Marc,

·· Where did you get your FTDI Driver?· Did you download it from the Parallax Website, or did it come on a CD?

You may have a bad board. I have XP Pro/SP2 and no troubles with my USB BOE or other Parallax USB products. Give tech support a call for additional help or possible return of your boards: 888-99-STAMP
