Basic Stamp 1 Rev.D Problem!

Hi,

I have a BASIC Stamp 1 Rev. D controller, that WILL NOT connect to my PC.
I have tried on 3 machines, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and DOS.
DOS is the farthest I have got, it says "Connectng" but then it gives me "Error, Hardware not found"
Any Ideas?

    The BS1 will not work on Windows XP or 2000 using DOS.· If you are using the parallel port you will need to use Windows 98 or DOS 3.0 and above.· If you are using a correct version of DOS you may need to set your ROM·BIOS to EPP/ECP or Bi-Directional.

    If it won't connect on your DOS machine (using the old DOS editor), you may have a duff board. Is it new?
