Hello from Greece!!!
For·a·few days now, I'm trying to find the compoments for the speaker(talk)board figured in the 40th Column of Nuts & Volts(Page 443 - 452)·but I can find the SP0256-AL2 processor and the "crystal"(3.12MHz) nowhere here in Greecemad.gif· Can I be supplied ,seperately, these compoments or I have to buy the whole kit. How·can·I·buy it, when will arrive and from where will come from (international distributor or ...confused.gif )confused.gif ?

Thank you,
Provas

Those parts are VERY difficult to come by as they've been out of production for a very long time -- but I think www.speechchips.com carries them.

there are programmable oscillators, and some suppliers will pre-program them for you (the programmer is several hundred), but once they are programmed they are non-returnable. I think www.digikey.com will program them, though you'll likely have to call them to request it.

That part used to be carried by Radio Shack in the 1980's, I believe. It was a really nice part, but had too few applications for it. The BS2 could probably use it great. Good luck finding it.

And, having now navigated to www.speechchips.com, it looks like they are now available, including a nice small board to put them in, AND the crystal needed.· Including a nice small simulator to run on your PC to get the Phoneme's you'll need to program it.

    Really nice!

    Hi,

    Thanks for the mention Jon.

www.speechchips.com carries the SP0256-AL2 along with a printed circuit board for the SP0256-AL2 and component kits.

    Regards,
    Ken
