Just to break the monotony, I thought we could have a little contest.
Tomorrow, Monday, as near to 12:00 EST as I can make it, I will post a question on this thread.· The first person with the most complete answer will receive a 64Kbyte AT25F512 piggyback EEPROM.
Entries will be judged on accuracy, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
If you would like to post an answer but do not need the EEPROM, plase indicate this in your response.
Tracy, you are not eligible - you are too smart

Neat idea, but spelling and grammar might be a penalty for some of the foreign members of the forum.

*commonly referred to as the dumbest smart person anyone has ever known*
(I had absolutely no common sense growing up, and I'm still deficient)
Now wait a minute!!... I thought I was the dumbest smart person anyone has ever known with occational dyslexia flare-ups.
(Not only am I the dumbest smart person I am also the smartest dumb person)

"An atom of plutonium has an atomic weight of 244.· An atom is split and produces one atom of Palladium and one atom of Tin.· The combined atomic weight of· the Palladium atom and the Tin atom is 224.73 leaving a difference of· 19.27.· What is this difference called?· What happened to it?"

19.27/.013699895 = 1432.6 neutrinos
A neutrino has about 1 millionth the mass of an electron.
19.27 is atomic mass units -amu - where 1 amu ~= the mass of a hydrogen atom.

Periodic Chart
Pu(94) 244
Pd(46) 106.42
Sn(50) 118.69
The difference here seems to be 18.89 and NOT 19.27
I'm foncused
E=mc2
E is in Joules if m is in grams
m = 18.89 / 6.022*1023 = 3.1368*10-23
c = 299,792,458 meters per second
E = 9.4040e-15
For 1 gram of Pu would be 5.6631 Giga Joules of released Energy ....
So there! that proves I know absolutely nothing about what I am talking about!

So I'll guess.
I believe the only subatomic products of a nuclear decay that have any appreciable mass are protons, neutrons and alpha particles.··Since there is a net gain of 2 protons in the reaction (Tin has 50, Palladium has 46, Plutonium has 94), I'm guessing that an alpha particle gets thrown in and about 21 neutrons are scattered (assuming the Tin and Palladium are stable isotopes).·
What do you call it?· I dunno.
What happened to it? It got real small
