Hi, I got a SRF08 recently and was wondering how to connect it to my Basic Stamp 2 properly.· I read the nuts and volts article about it, but upon connecting everything, exactly as shown, It didnt work... at all.· I haven't found any other useful information anywhere else either.

When I did a Google search for "SRF08" I found tons of information.
    you said...
I haven't found any other useful information anywhere else either

...Perhaps you did a search for "(No Subject)" resulting
in your not so useful findings.

Hah! I forgot to put in a subject! I've looked at most of those and haven't found them very helpful. I'll look at the one that I haven't though. Basicly what I meant by the question was: Does anyone know of a configuration that definately works? Like one they have tried or seen used?

I'm not sure if this approach would work for you, but years ago I setup a test configuration where
the ultrasonic transmitter was sending a constant 40kHz.... i.e. There was no 'PING'

On the receiver test side I connected a scope, and visually I was able to process what I was seeing
on the scope based on where I was pointing the transmitter under various scenarios.

The point of this was a very useful exercise/learning curve that allowed me to understand exactly
what needed to be tackled in the way of a design goal.

BTW) With this setup I designed an adjustable 40kHz oscillator where I could adjust within +/- 20%
of 40kHz. Reason I mention this, is because you can optimize the resonate frequency of the
transmitter/receiver to see a DRAMATIC increase in performance by an order of magnitude.

Another helpful ultrasonic "test" device that is nice to have is an audible divide by 4 or 5 to bring down the
40kHz into a "human" audible range..... What you hear may surprise you!

To elaborate, I was working late one summer night and thought my 40kHz transmitter was malfunctioning.
So I turned it off completely.... I Still heard a strange "random" noise in my receiver that altered as I
moved about.. Being that my receiver was portable, I was able to target the source... INSECTS!!!
I found what appeared to be a bluish-gray beetle (looked like a stink bug) composing a rather interesting
    45kHz song.
