OSX User with a general question about testing an application without using a s

I've heard that this is possible with PC's, but I was wondering if it were true with mac's as well. Is there a way to test and run my code on a mac without using a stamp? I can check the code with the syntax checker, but I'd actually like to test it, maybe through simulating communication with a stamp, on a mac. Has anyone seen this?

    I have seen a simulator for the PIC, but not one for the BS.
