Random "Debug connection lost" errors with SV-TEHS SX-DEV

Hi,
A while ago I got one of the SV-TEHS SX-DEV SX ICDs. Problem is, I've been using it on a Win2k system and I've been getting seemingly random "Debug connection has been lost" errors.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? SV-TEHS are totally useless - they can't even be bothered to respond to my repeated emails to their tech-support address

This is getting really annoying - I've got most of the hardware for my contest entry done, but the SX programmer is playing silly-devils, so I can't get the code written and debugged...
