I'm running a BS2P24.· The tiny chip in the upper right hand corner and the 8-pin SOIC at middle right is running quite hot.· Is the normal?

I'm not certain what you mean by 'right' side on it.
(A reference based on the pin numbers would be helpful)

But one of the 8pin chips is the voltage regulator, and the other is the EEPROM.
Are you driving any other chips from the onboard 5V supply of the BS2p?

The little tiny·chip in the upper right hand corner is a 4-resistor pack.
The middle right 8-pin SOIC - next to pin19 - may be a regulator.

I have a piggy back plugged in to the Stamp socket and then the Stamp.
The piggyback has its own regulator and is driven by pin 24 - Vin.

Pin 19 - Vdd on the Stamp - comes from the external regulator so any thing you connect to pin 19 would not affect the Stamp's onboard regulator

Do you have a Stamp Tester?

Out of interest sake, i checked mine. The little one on the top right is pretty warm, the other not as much.

    Hi Sid,

There are some production related voltage differences between regulators.

If it is the case the the small Stamp regulator has a little higher output voltage than the external then the whole current for your application will be sourced from your onboard Stamp regulator. Then can cause the little regulator to get hot.

    Just an idea,
