I2C Distance Limitation

Greetings -

Does anyone know or have practical experience driving I2C devices with the Javelin? I'm interested in knowing what kind of distance limitations there are. I need to place an I2C sensor device quite a distance from the Javelin...

Thanks
Chris

Remember, I2C stands for Inter-Integrated Circuit and is not really desinged for anything more than several inches (confined to a single PCB) -- though in practice we've all seen much bigger distances. I've seen I2C Drivers in Elektor magazine (Europe) that help; and using really good cable will help as well.

You could go rs-485 for the longer distances then have some sort of rs-485/i2c tranceiver.
