No Basic Stamp Found, Please help me out

I've been trying to solve the problem for 2 days by changing cable and checking connections.
·I am using a new battery.
The voltage supplied to the·chip was tested 6V.
I'd created y own download cable as such:
Pin 2345 of the serial port '9-pin socket' were connected to 1234 of stamp's pin.
Pins 6,7 were shorted together for the 9-pin socket.
However, The result was 'No Basic stamps Found'
and the following was shown.
Loopback =Yes, Echo·=No
How could I have rectified the problem?
