Javelin not responding

Hi Guys,
well, I'm not sure what happened....but the weekend, I came in and went back to work setting up my Javelin with Friday's setup and no response!
I pass the loopback but no Echo or Status.
The regulator works fine (4.97Vdc out) but the only pin on the Javelin itself that has voltage is the Vin pin which is sitting at about 15Vdc (wall wart voltage; rated at 12V but not a big enough load).
I emailed support....but as I'm ancy at the moment I thought I'd drop a quick line on here to see what, if anything, people might suggest!

Are you able to test it on another computer?· Have you been able to program it before?· Is it getting really hot?

The only pin I could measure a voltage on was Vin....I thought this was supposed to be the output of the regulator (~5V).
I popped the Javelin into my BOE and it failed.· I didn't want to try the BS2 in the other board as I didn't want to toast to stamps in one day!
I was programming it all last week and certainly couldn't tell if anything was overly hot!

My original email was to the support@parallax.com email.
I came in to work this morning and saw a reply from one of your techs.· He gave me some voltage test points to try.
Here's my reply:

I'm using 9volt battery, Board of Education(usb), Javelin Stamp
I have been able to code the javelin stamp before
The Javelin has not gotten hot either.
But now when I check the identify, I am receiving····· Yes on Loopback, Echo·······and a·NO on Got Status
I have tried two computers, and one laptop, I even bought new 9 volt batteries.
The only code I programmed is a
Hello world
Range Finder
Accellerometer
Last thing that was done is my friend disconnected the usb from the laptop to connect a jumpdrive to back up the code, but when we connected the USB back on the laptop, thats when it started giving us a NO on Got Status
Any idea what I might be forgetting??
·
The echo/loopback is a function of the rs232 pump transistors on the stamp that electrically connect back to the rx line on your pc...so you get this echo effect.
Does the USB cable power the USB BOE?!...LMNOP! ;)
do you only have the one javelin?· I'd say try another stampin the socket.· I know the javelin stamp works in the bs2 BOE type board...but I don't know that the bs2 stamp will work in the javelin demo board.
Break out the schematic and measure voltages on the javelin pins.....

The first computer used is the Laptop, from the beginning, we got a·YES on Loopback, echo, and got status...
First program we·ran was a simple hello world, it worked, and oh yea!!!!!!!!!!!! we were on a role
Second program was the range finder, it worked,·and hells yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! too easy
Third program was the accelerometer, it worked,·and yeup thats right who's da man!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend disconnected the usb cable from his laptop so he can attach·a·jumpdrive to save the code, after saving,·he reconnected the usb cable to only find that this time Loopback, and echo is showing a YES, and got status is a big fat NO..··and duuuuuuuude!!!!!!!!!! not kewl.·
The second computer, I cant say which version of driver it had but on my computer at home I have the latest and I still got the same Yes(Loopback,·Echo)·and NO(gotstatus)
We reinstalled the BS2 on the same BOE(usb) and yes it powers and reads ok.· We will be programming the BS2 untill we hear further about the Javelin issue.

The PC is supposed to re-load the FTDI USB Driver when it detects you've connected a 'new' device to the USB port. This should reset the FTDI USB hardware that talks to your Javelin, no problem. When you try to re-program the Javelin, it should reset the javelin, so any Javelin confusion would be corrected at that point.
Your PC's Serial driver could conceivably be confused by your pulling the USB cable, depending on what was going on. Did you shutdown the IDE? Or at least close any debug sessions?
This shouldn't happen, so I'm grasping at straws here...
OH, and the way Vin and Vdd work:· Vin is the INPUT to the on-chip regulator.· It can be 5.5 to 16 volts DC.· Vdd is the +5 volt pin.· If you supply Vin, Vdd can OUTPUT current (though not much current).· If you DON'T supply Vin, you CAN supply Vdd with +5 to drive the chip.
Don't mix these up.· If you supply Vdd with more than 5.5 volts, you'll destroy the BS2 or Javelin.
Now, on the BOE, these issues should already be taken care of, as it has an on-board regulator (2940-5) which supplies the +5 volts to Vdd.
*** Rereading your post, I see your friend attached a 'jump-drive' to the USB port, and saved to it.· Did he first save to a 'local' drive from the IDE, shut down the IDE, then copy to the jump-drive?· Or did he just pull the USB cable, plug in the Jump-Drive, and save from the IDE?
If the second, I don't know where the IDE is now looking for its files.· It could be looking at the (now non-connected) jump-drive.· That could be part of your problem.· I would ALWAYS save the files to a local drive, then COPY them to the jump drive, AFTER exiting the IDE.
