Flexipanel, custom inteface

I've used the Flexipanel Designer to make a control panel to control a BOE Bot via bluetooth. What i'd like to do now is create my own interface so i can make one that looks a little nicer. I saw something called "windows client api" on the flexipanel website·and thought it might be what i needed·but i'm finding it difficult to wade through the manual.

anyone made their own panels without using Designer? any pointers to give?
