I'm working on an alarm using the BS2. It will sense a beam of IR across a doorway
and if that beam is broken, the BS2 will emit a 4000 Hz tone for 1 second.

This significantly increased the accuracy of the beam.

The only problem I see is all the wiring along the house making your wife go crazy!!!

If you want to increase the volume of a "raw piezo" (i.e no internal piezo circuitry), then
see my reply in the "Stamps in Class" section several months ago about amplifying a piezo speaker.
