telling time to a program in action

So I'm trying to do something like this:

(time starts when trigger is released)

When time is between 0-20 seconds, do this
-fsdhgfkdsahg

When·time is between 20-40 seconds, do this
-fgsgfhgkjfhg

When·time is between 40-60 seconds, do this
-afdfhdkfh

Any ideas?

Depends on what "do this" means. You can synthesize an internal clock or use an external RTC and check it periodically.
