No carrier board

Howdy all,

I have a bs2-ic and I would like to start programming / using it. I have no carrier board, and realize things would be much easier if I had one. However, due to time constraints and funding constraints I would like to use an alternative, before I go ahead and solder a wire onto each of the pins, just wonder if anyone has any ideas / suggestions that may help me?

Thanks

I'd try to avoid soldering - wouldn't want to ruin that nice new BS2. It looks very simple to make your own carrier board for a few dollars in parts from your local Radio Shack. I'd get a universal component PC board P/N 276-168 for $3.29 (or you can build this on a solderless breadboard), a 24 pin DIP socket P/N 900-7249 for $2.00, 9 volt battery snap P/N 270-324 for $2.59, 9 volt battery holder P/N 270-326 for $.99, female DB9 connector P/N 276-1538 for $1.59, pushbutton switch P/N 275-1571 for $2.99 and a pair of .1uF caps P/N 272-135 for $1.29. Total cost is $14.74.

See here on how to wire your carrier board http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=27120
and see Jon Williams note about where to add the two .1uF caps http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=5&m=59759

You'll also need a DB9 male to female, straight thru cable to connect your board to your computer's serial port.
