Very Silly question ... Serial Floppy drive ?

A floppy disk drive would be perfect for the application I have in mind.···· Does anyone know of a basic stamp controller for a floppy drive that I could control serially ?

I do remember someone built an IDE interface but I've never heard of of a 1.44meg serial disk drive ..

Oh, Radio Shack long ago had a Serial disk drive. It was painfully slow, and didn't do 1.44 Meg disks, either.

People have built IDE interfaces for BS2 to hard drive use. I have not heard of a floppy application, though. You are right, it would be perfect for the BS2.

That's interesting .. that such an item did exist possibly for 720k disks ?···· I wonder if it's the same as the disk drive in my mothers sharp word processor(Do you remember those one with a one line LCD display)?····· Next time I visit I might tear it apart ... (isn't she lucky !) as it only serves as a grandchild toy.

Is it possible to interface one of the USB versions made for laptops ?

THERE WAS A 720k FLOPPY AND ALSO A 1.44 FLOPPY FOR THE TRS-100/200/600. I THINK THIS WAS SERIAL HAVE 1 ODF EACH SOMEWHERE BURIED.(NOT AVAILABLE)

ALSO THERE WAS A BATTERY OPERATED SERIAL 1.44 FLOPPY FOR THE HP 200 LX PALMTOP. I KNOW. I HAVE ONE. (NOT AVAILABLE)

I do not know what you are useing it for but you might look at useing one of those serial flashcard writers. Flashcards like the Compact flash card are smaller and have more memory.

I second the Compact Flash card recommendation. Less power, fewer moving parts, longer life, smaller.
Use the 'MVS' reference above to get an interface for it.
