Help we can not get this new basic stamp (a xmas gift) to identify

    1. Do you have power to your BOE/HWB?
    2. Is the power indicator LED on?
    3. Do you have the BOE/HWB connected to your PC?
    4. Do you have the correct Com port selected -- you can set to Auto if you don't know
    5. Are you using the latest version of the editor (download from www.parallax.com).

    I have an NX-1000 board.· This is my first trial. I have downloaded latest software per above.· the "ID" function returns "yes" for loopback and echo, but says "no basic stamps found".
    I am using a Belkin USB to Serial Adapter.· I have configured the serial port using Device Manager to Com 5 and Com 2: 9600,8,none,1,none- with same results.
    I'm considering buying a different USB to serial converter and starting fresh.

    Any additional suggestions?

    We have had problems with lots of USB-Serial adapters and suggest you get the FTDI version that we've found reliable.
