What is the resistor on the IR Receiver for

I just noticed that the Robotics 2.2 documentation indicates the use of a 220 ohm resistor between the Stamp Pin and the IR Receiver.· What is it for?· It was not in earlier Robotics curriculums... do I need it?

    It is most likely only for insurance so you cannot "blow" the stamp pin.
