Minimal required to start to play with SX chips

I know this has been covered but I have not found it. I am new to the SX stuff and have yet to use one for anything. If I am re-asking the same old same old, someone please just point to in the right direction...
It does look like the SX line could be the answer to a number of prayers.

The bare minimum (purchase) is the SX-Key (you can download the SX-Key software at no charge). For a few bucks more, however, you can make your life a bit easier by getting one of the starter kits -- that way you get a demo board, a couple chips, the Key (of course), and with the PLUS kit you get two great books on SX programming; one by Al Williams and the other by Guenther Daubach. It's Christmastime ... treat yourself Rocky -- you'll be glad you did.

The Demo board is a MUST. Yes, you could build your own, but it's SO much easier to have a known-good platform to develop with.

I agree with Allan...It's somewhat tedious, but I always design the individual circuits that interface to the stamp on either a Demo Board or the NX-1000.· Then when I am ready to integrate everything I move it to a large breadboard before finally having boards made.· Back when I used to wire-wrap, nothing was worse then getting 20 chips wired together, and not getting anything to work.

The Starter Package WITH the Demo board, the SX-Key, the CD, two SX-28, a 4mHZ and 50mHZ crytal and Guenther's Book are really the minimum to fully learn the SX.
You can buy these peice meal, the package is the best value and Al William's book is a lighter first reading that allows you to get oriented and motived for Guenther's detailed and thorough explanations.

In sum, you really must read Guenther's book to fully appreciate the SX and its reference and application sections will be useful for a long time.

Personally, I like having two Tutorials by differenc authors as they present facts for different points of view. This helps me understand and evaluate better. Trying to get it all from one book, one author is a bit naive.

    Good luck
