pins used on BS modules

Could someone tell me what the solder on pins on the BS modules are called and where I can find them? I have done some searching, but not knowing what to call them has gotten me nowhere.

If you are talking about the pins themselves, you can order them from Parallax.

    Hello,

The pins themselves are hard to find on the internet.· However you can purchase them through Parallax.· If your stamp has damaged pins and is beyond repair, we do offer a BASIC Stamps at approximately half price for replacement purposes.· You can contact our sales department at 1-888-512-1024 or sales@parallax.com for more information.

Dave: The pins are very hard to find when one does not know the proper name. Do they have a name? I don't need them for replacement purposes, I intend to make plugin adapters for leadless and surface mt. chips

SOIC chips have leads on .050 centers.· In order to make pads for that spacing, the pads would have to have a max diameter of .040, which would give you a hole size of about .010.· Good luck!

The adapter pins have .1" spacing and fit into standard sockets just like the stamps.

You can look up "component legs" and that should·point you in the right direction.

Closest thing I could find was here:
    http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=142131

I worked with these things in college doing some ceramic hybrid projects....but darn if I can't remember what we called them; figuring it was college it probably was crude! haha

Anyhow, at that site you could pull the pins out of the socket and with some creative soldering you could get it to work!

If I might mention...There was a thread on this very subject not too long ago on this very forum.· I believe what was mentioned was that the exact pins used cost alot in small quantities.· I believe a supplier was mentioned, however, this morning I don't yet have the ambition to go searching through the messages.· But it is in there somewhere.

    Chris Savage:
I searched for "pins" from beginning to end and back to sept. for "pin" (search won't allow
for more than 200 results). No luck. Remember any words from the post that I can search for?

    Chris Isaacson:
Mill-Max carries only turned pins, not the stamped and formed variety.

    Dave:
I searched for "component legs" alone and with other words and turned up nothing. I would not have thought that the identity and source of these parts would be so difficult to find. Bummer!

    Rick,

·· Unfortunately, I came up the same way you did.· Not enough results to get back to it...It's simply too common of a word (PINS).· I even tried browsing the forums from the beginning hoping to hit the subject, but the fact is, I don't know if the subject indicated what the post was about.· That is, it may have started off one thing, and ended another.· I was kinda hoping that by mentioning that it WAS on here, the people involved in the discussion would step up and say, "Oh yeah!· That was me!"· Sorry...confused.gif

BTW, I was pretty sure someone from Parallax posted their supplier and part# at that time.

    Rick,

You've probably asked for the one bit of supplier information we don't freely give out on a discussion forum. Parallax is an open company and we were abused over this request in years past, so now you will need to contact me off-line if you want supplier information. I'll help you after I know about the nature of the application.

    Sincerely,

    Ken Gracey

    SID! You Da Man!

Lead frame! That's the name I was looking for. Lots of search results now. Your next assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to find a supplier that will sell me 1 or 2 hundred of them. smile.gif The next step is to see what Ken Gracey has to say. Thanks.
