USB Re-Connection Error

To test a program after uploading it to the BS2, I unplug the USB cable from the BOE. When I plug the USB back into the BOE for another upload from the editor, I get an error that "No BASIC Stamps Found." I close the editor and·get a couple Send Error to Microsoft boxes that pop up. I open the editor again and all is fine until going to disconnect and reconnect again after a trial run.

I have searched these forums but found no info... any ideas?· hop.gif

Thanks,
· Gary

Thanks Dave. I am running XP Pro. Wasn't aware I had to install drivers for native USB with actual USB cable. I'll take a look. Thanks.

The FTDI device we use has special drivers that allow us to treat it more like a convential serial port; once the drivers are installed you should have no problems with any Parallax USB products (all use the FTDI USB chip).

Thanks guys. OK, here's the skinny... My HP was running ver. 1.0.2154.0 FTDI drivers already.

I downloaded "the latest" from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/FT2232CDrivers.htm#VCP·, which they claim are ver. 1.0.3 dated 5th May 2004. I installed these and the .INF's say they are version 1.00.00, dated 03/12/2004. These did not work. Couldn't communicate the the USB or BS2 at all.

Went to the Parallax CD where I found the 1.0.2151.0 2/4/2004 drivers and they work like a charm.

So, for me (and maybe others), 1.0.2154.0 BAD, 1.2.2151.0 GOOD.

    Thanks for the help!··· smilewinkgrin.gif·

    Hi Gary,

your VCP driver seem incorrect, it's used for FT2232 not FT232BM

you need to uninstall driver by call FTDIUNIN.EXE on folder and re-install correct VCP again

current driver on FTDI web is 1.00.2154
    http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/FT232-FT245Drivers.htm

    Try this

    Thanks Worapoht,

It brings me back to my original drivers·1.00.2154. Turns out the 1.0.2151.0 would just lock up eventually anyway.

Not sure why the editor's communication with the stamp·locks up after unplugging for a while.

eyeWyre's editor has no problem with all the plugging and unplugging...
