Dear,

I have , some weeks ago, upgrade the software for programming the SX28L. I have now the version 3.0 on my laptop. Before version 2.0.

Since the new software is installed, i can not make any connection to the sx-key.

When i using an other PC , it works perfect.

Has somebody any idea's of what happend.

Thanks for the Help.

    Kurt,

could you please specify which version of Windoooze you have installed on the laptop?

Another stupid question: Does your laptop have a COM port at all? Too bad, my now laptop does not have one, so I had to buy one of these USB/RS-232 converters.

Yes i have a serial port (com1)because with the the software version 2.0 and earlier softwareversion everything was OK.

Error Message "SX-Key not found on COM1".

I already have orded a new sx-key, same error message.

I have tried both sx-key on a other PC ,everything ok.

Windows 98 (It is a compagny laptop).

I have already contacted the local dealer in Belgium and Holland and they recommended me to put it on the forum.

Is something else locking up your serial port?

To my experience, when another application has already opened the COM port, the SX-Key software reports that the COM port is already in use by another process.

The "SX-Key not found on ..." usually indicates that either the link between the COM port and the SX-Key is broken, that the SX-Key is not or not correctly connected to the ISP pin header, or that the SX (and the SX-Key) are not powered.

Kurt, it might be an idea to check what number the COM port in your laptop has, maybe, it has been defined as COM2, or soemthing else. It might also be an idea to test if the COM port works with some other device, e.g. a modem.

i have remove all other softwareprograms that are using the serial com1 port.

I even have ,with use of taskmanager, shut down all other software apllications that are running in the background.

    No result.

    Kurt,

Can you post a picture of the configuration dialog for me? Here's how to get the image:

1 - Open the configuration dialog in the SX-Key IDE.

    2 - Hit Alt-Print Screen

3 - Open the paint program that comes with Windows.

4 - Paste the image into the paint program.

5 - Save it as a JPEG file.

    6 - Post it.

I have attached mine just as an example.

      Thanks, PeterM

    Hello,

    freaked.gif

I was just looking around on the forum of sx.

There was on the 11/8/2004 also a problem reported concerning SXkey Not found on ComX. They were talking about a new software release. Have anybody some idea when.

That would solved mine problem that i had posted on the forum.

Let me know something, if somebody know more about that.

Ciao and greeting from cold belgium

    Kurt,

I hope you can bear with me a little longer.· I have been on vacation the past week, which·is why I haven't replied until now.· When I get back to my desktop computer, I can look into what's going on.· In the meantime, can you tell me if your machine has a built in modem as well as a serial port?

    ···· Thanks,
