Can PUSLIN be safely used with a servo that has 6v of power with no resistors?

Do you mean PULSOUT?· You cannot read pulses from a servo from any I have seen...

If PULSOUT was what you were looking for, then yes, but you must have a common ground with the stamp.

I expect that Chris savage has answered your question.

I have a servo motor that sends an output pulse train back to the controller which could be read with PULSIN.
The pulses are generated by a toothed magnet attached to the rotor.
As eash tooth passes a sensing coil built into the motors housing, a pulse is generated.
The pulses are amplified and returned as TTL level signals.

In this case you would definitly need a limiting resistor.
I expect that one should always employ a limiting resistor when interfacing the Stamp to the outside world.

    Any idea how many ohms?

The stamp has very high input impedance so anything from about 4.7K to maybe 47K. I would try 10K as a starting point.
