Help!

I bought some PIC16C57C microcontrollers from newark but they wont program on my BS2 OEM.· I can reprogram a chip i bought from parallax but not the 10 i bought from newark.· they have identical part numbers PIC16C57C-20/P but the good one has 04023mu marked on it and the bad ones have 0026g8q.· I have also noticed the parallax chips have a silver dot whereas the newarks dont.· is there something special about the parallax chips and if so how can i buy just the PIC chip?· i dont see it listed on the website.

Thanks
Erik

Yes, the Parallax chips contain the PBASIC interpreter (hence the mark) -- and that interpreter is our intellectual property that we do in fact charge for. You can buy programed 57s from us; chips you get anywhere else will not work in your OEM BASIC Stamp.
