Mirroring to Yahoo Groups Incomplete

Here is a prime example of something I've been seeing recently on the Yahoo Groups mirror of the new web based PBASIC Stamp List. In the following thread, the initial posting did not reach the list, nor did the first few replies, but the last reply (as of 11-23-04 11:24 EST) did reach the mirror.

Unfortunately it's difficult to track this down as I rarely view posts on the web based forum first. When a reply seems to ... come out of the blue, that's when I suspect that some of the posts are missing. This seems to have started about a week or so ago, and appears to be getting worse. Perhaps some of the posts are being bounced at the Yahoo end for some unknown reason. That would definitely cause the condition I'm seeing.

·· This isn't an answer to the problem, but I did want to mention that when I was getting my Yahoo Groups sent via e-mail (Prior to the Forums) I would frequently get replies to threads before ever seeing the original post, if I saw it at all.· This happened quite often.· And sometimes messages would be sent to my Yahoo Bulk folder, even though other messages with the same subject weren't.
·· I guess what I am saying is that I think Yahoo frequently has problems with overloading on some servers of theirs, especially when dealing with Group messages via e-mail.

I have sometimes seen that as well, but I suspect that is not the case here. I have found what you expressed to be quite true when the recipient is a Yahoo mail account, but this is not. I have the Parallax Forum mail sent to my own email account at a local ISP.
Thanks for your thoughts though!

The archive contains all the messages we were able to retreive from Yahoo over a one week period prior to uploading them to this site. There were several small gaps in the message number sequence during this activity. I did spot check the gaps and found that the missing messages were not available from the Yahoo site.
The omissions could be attributed to a number of data management issues at Yahoo. Backup and restore cycles during hardware upgrades is the primary suspect. It is also possible that the missing messages are simply mis-threaded. The subject line was used to thread the messages. I'm sure that the Yahoo site had access to internal pointers to thread their messages, so the threading on our site will not be as accurate.
