Getting BASIC Stamp to read IR trigger

Does anyone know how to get the BS2 to read this trigger-

    The sensor seems to be designed to trigger when an object is within 40 cm -- for use with automatic toilet flushers and things like that. The output is high (no object) or low (object detected). If you're wanting to know the distance between the sensor and the object, this is not the device to use.
