flash interface?

Don't know what got me thinking about this, but started browsing around and found this product http://www.tern.com/g_fc_b.htm
It is a compact flash controller, with some features that maybe looks like it could interface to a bsp. Says it can be configured to run in standalone mode using TTL I2C communication, and RS232 serial, and runs on 5v. I have not got into the I2C thing yet, and was wondering if anyone knows if this could be possible? I think the stamp would have to be able to access the file system. Possible uses would be the data storage/acquistion, field programmer or even storing multiple programs the stamp could access and reprogram itself for various conditions.
