I would like to extend the cable for the IR buddy 300ft and longer…

Will this work?
Basic Stamp II pin connected to RS-422 transmitter (eg MAX 488) connected via long wires to a RS422 receiver (also MAX 488) connected to an IR Buddy?

I will have separate powersupplies for the Basic Stamp and the IR Buddy.

    I only need one way communication. I need to send [noparse][[/noparse]PLAY], [noparse][[/noparse]PAUSE] and other RC5 commands to a CD player.

    You should be able to do that. It would be worth testing on a bench with a short run first; if you can use the RS-422 circuitry with the IRB through 3 feet of cable, it should also work through 300.
