Hi, I am thinking about making an alarm system using my basic Stamp 2 homework board kit.· I am using a motion detector to set off the alarm.· My question: Is there a way, that when the alarm is activated, the controller will trigger a video camera in order to see what the problem is.· What is the most simple way to accomplish this.· Any suggestions would be appreciated.· It would be better if the camera is connected wirelessly to the controller, which would require a transmitter + reciever.
Thank you,
Ed

I have had such a system in place for several years.· It takes two Stamps, one at each end, and a dependable transmitter and receiver, such as the Parallax 433MHZ units.· I press a key on a control box on
on my desk, which transmits the letter "G".· When the Stamp in the garage receives a "G", it turns on my color video camera, which looks down the driveway.· It would be just as easy to have your Stamp transmit a code letter when the motion detector gets an alarm.· The control box is a BOE
in a project box with a 12-digit keypad mlunted in the lid and runs off of 4 AA cells.· The Stamp in the garage runs off of a wall wart, plus a second wall wart to supply the 12volts required by the video transmitter.· The video is displayed on a small monitor on my desk tuned to Channel 59, which is pretty standard for video transmitters.

    Ed -

Do you presently have the video camera you're planning to use? If so, what is the make and model number.

Just as a matter of curiosity, why do you need or want this to be wireless? That criteria may make it much more complicated, and probably a good deal more expensive than a direct connection.

Well thanks for the quick reply Sid and Bruce.

Sid- that sounds really good. I was trying to implement something that would only use 1 controller, but if it's not possible then 2 would have to do.

Bruce-I just wanted a wireless connection for convenience purposes, to not have wires all over. It doesn't have to be. I really just want to make it as simple as possible, so it can be a direct connection. I haven't purchased the camera yet, I am still in the research stage and want as much info as possible in order to make a system that works with as little complication.

I was looking at a parallax product:
    Stock#: 30008 Category: Robotics
    RoboEye Wireless Vision System
This product looks as it only uses one controller, and it might work for my application.

    Any suggestions?

Don't know if you've seen my website http://www.lightlink.com/dream/chris/stamps.htm but we are currently working on a better alarm system for our Computer Shop using a BS2P40, and it has 4 ZONEs using magnetic switches, as well as a motion sensor, and controls 2 cameras.

Still under construction, but using one controller...
