Stephen...I have built several projects using the DS1302 on both the BS2, and BS2P40...But I must admit, your project is interesting...I already have a Binary Clock I got from eBay, but it would be interesting to make a much bigger version.

    Chris,
··········· Yea, I saw one in a geek magazine about 2 months ago and I figured the stamp could pull that off. I have had it running at my desk for the last 1-month and a half. I like it.

A "Geek" magazine, huh?· That's funny since I first saw them on a Website called, "ThinkGeek.com"

But I found it on eBay cheaper and got it...But I have it at home...I think to show off here at the shop, I will make a bigger version and when people ask, I can put in my pitch for Parallax...Trying to get more people/students into the BS2/BOE-Bot anyway!

Yea that would be great. I thought of a larger unit, but·time has not permitted.·When you do the larger one are you going to be using the 20mm LEDS or just actual lamps?

Probably large LEDs...I have the Super-Bright LEDs that we use in custom computer case mods in Red, Green and Blue, but when you look straight at them, it's like looking at the sun!· I get bad afterimage for like 15 minutes, so I'd be inclined to use larger LEDs...Besides, it's not really that many.· Depending on current draw I may need transistors to drive them...Gotta check specs.· Do you have a particular 20mm that you'd recommend?· 10mm I have used...20mm no...

BTW, if I do use large LEDs, I will probably actually use a BS1 and 74HC595's...

I have used these in the past and they work great they are a cluster of 6 leds and at 12vdc with a 470ohm resistors they will pull about 13ma. These are made by http://www.lumex.com

    attachment.php?attachmentid=73780
    ·
    http://www.mouser.com/ carries them.
    ·
Also if you are in to displays theses are the same size but you have the option of controlling each led in the cluster. Allowing you to make fluid movements on the led. I don’t know if mouser also carriers them. I got mine a while ago in a sample pack.
