Board of Education

Hello,
I currently have a Rev. A Board of Education, and noticed it does not have the Vin slots between the Vdd and Vss slots above the breadboard. Is this·a problem? What are the Vin slots used for?
Thanks.

This is not a problem, if you need the Vin (Vin = voltage in) you can use the X1 header to access it.

By Vin, we are referring to the input voltage present on the 2.1 mm jack or via the battery clips. If you are using a 9V battery then this would be 9V. If you are using our 9V 300 mA wall-wart then it might be more like 12 volts.
Vdd is the output from the regulator, or 5V.
Vss is ground.
Even though you have a fairly dated board it still does the same basic function as our newest style BOEs. I wouldn't go as far as to suggest it'll fetch you top dollar on eBay like a museum piece, but the basic board is still useful for 90% of the applications we provide (it may have some problems with newer AppMods, though - not sure).
