datalogger using a stamp

I'd like to build a single-channel data logger using a basic stamp. I assume that the BS2pe is the best model for doing that. Do I need additional chips like clock chips or external memory chips or anything? Does the stamp keep the time by itself? If the stamp is reading the value from a 12-bit A/D converter, how many readings will it hold before the memory fills up?

Thanks.

If you need time-of-day and date then yes, you should use an external RTC. The DS1307 is great choice for the BS2pe. As far as memory, if your application is simple and will fit in slot 0, you have slots 1 - 15 for storage; 30k (30720 bytes). The number of readings will depend on how many bytes you put into a packet.
