Mounting SX chips

this is probably a silly question, but how would you mount an SX chip in onto a breadboard/veroboard, i.e. in a similar way to the stamps?!

Lots of adapters are available from http://www.logicalsys.com/
If you just want a DIP chip, you can buy the SX28AC/DP in DIP format.
If you want to put the SX28AC/SS into a breadboard you need an adapter to do this. If you want it to be on a 24-pin BASIC Stamp, I think you could actually buy a BS2SX-IC and reprogram the SX on the PCB (if I recall, we put a 4-pin header on the module for this purpose though we've not advertised it).

For some reason I didn't see the DP format chips! Doh!
Anything we do at Parallax is going to be "prototypeable" whether it's an SX or an FPGA. We know what kinds of problems customers have to deal with and we'd like to make it easier to get started [rather than making you stop to project to make a PCB so you can blink an LED].
Let us know if you need anything else. The SX18AC/DPs are only $1.79, by the way.

Where is this header on the BS2sx you speak of? Although at first glance this is a pricey way to go about it, for short prototype runs this might be nice.
Are all the pins on the SX's multi-purpose like the Stamps. I.e. could you use 5 pins all for PWM, etc?

Look carefully underneath the SX on this picture: http://www.parallax.com/images/prod_jpg/bs2sx-ic.jpg Expensive solution - yes, but maybe we will provide something easier. . .
James, yes. See the datasheet towards the bottom of the page at http://www.parallax.com/sx/downloads.asp

It seems that we removed the 4-pin header connection from our most recent BS2SX-IC module, but the picture on our web site still shows it on the module. Maybe we should put it on the BS2p instead and offer a $20 "development tool" which carries a bonus of having an EEPROM in a 24-pin DIP for Stamp users.

I probably wouldn't buy enough personally for you to make it profitable -- but how many others would be interested? And it would certainly be a growth path for all those SX28 users who would LOVE to use an SX48, but aren't yet ready to enter the world of surface-mount prototypes.

I have made an adapter to use the SX28AC/DP in the Boe-Bot, but if it had EEPROM too that would be great.
Sign me up too.
P.S. Any chance of getting SXSim integrated into the IDE ?
Bean.

There are things that are easier to test in the simulator, plus I don't always have the SX-Tech board with me.
Terry
got it - seems as if I got to work some more on that code .
