Editor complaining about CD Drive

The latest Editor (2.1 - R2) complains when it starts up about not having a disk in the CD/DVD drive. After clicking Continue a couple of times it ultimately loads.

Is there something I can change to make it not ask that a disk be put into the drive? I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

Thanks,

Kenny

Have the same problem all the time. Unfortunately didn't find any way to block it.

    Hey guys,

I'm alerting Jeff Martin right away (our BASIC Stamp Windows Editor Engineer and CD creator).

I'll ask him to reply to the forum.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I think the problem may be related to an issue with the editor's integrated explorer.· Is the CD ROM drive an external USB device?· Or do you have a Media reader (for SmartMedia, Flash Memory, etc)?

    Hi Jeff,

    My CD/DVD drive is internal.

The next day, after a reboot, the Editor quit complaining about there being no disk in the drive.

    Here's what I've discovered:

Put a CD in the Drive. Load the Editor. Exit the Editor and then remove the CD. Load the Editor again and it will complain about there not being a CD in the drive.

    Rebooting apparently clears some setting.

    HTH,

    Kenny

Kenny, I'm having the same problem (just an annoyance really) and after reading your post I rebooted and, with nothing in either drive, the editor still complains.
Jeff, I do have a flash card reader in my HP printer. Could that be causing the problem?

Yep. I just plugged in my Flash Reader and loaded up the Editor and sure enough, it told me to insert a disk into the reader.

I've had the problem a couple times when starting PBasic.· I think at some point I rebooted and it went away....but this was in the midst of muckin around with something else in the CD drive (not Pbasic related though).

    Hey guys,

I'm new to this fourms but I've had a BOE bot for a few years. I believe Jeff Martin is correct. When the editor boots, I think it's looking in external drives, not internal ones. I kept having the problem and I tried multiple uninstallations and reinstallations with no success. However, I noticed that I had a flash memory card reader hooked up to a USB port, which was causing the problem. The editor now works perfect for me, no error, when I have the card reader unplugged. Hope this helps.
